Switch Fingerflip

Shown for a regular-footed rider riding switch. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
A fingerflip done with the unnatural foot forward, which also swaps which hand is the front hand - so the throw has to be learned again with the other wrist. Everything about the flip is the same; nothing about the body's habits is. The board still goes a full turn in the heelflip direction off the fingers, still with the nose lifted into a wheelie first, and still caught with both feet on the bolts.
Step by step
- Set up as for a standard fingerflip, but in this stance.
- Grip the nose, fingers underneath and thumb on the grip, and lift it into a wheelie.
- Jump off both feet, splitting them wide of the rails.
- Snap the wrist to throw the board a full heelflip-direction rotation.
- Read the grip through the rotation - your usual reference points are the other way round.
- Catch both bolts and roll away.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | Clears the flipping deck, then re-catches the front bolts. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Splits toward the tail on the jump and lands with the front foot, not after it. |
| Shoulders | Square over the board; the throw supplies all the rotation. |
| Arms | One hand throws, the other balances. |
| Gaze | On the deck from the release to the catch. |
