540 Fingerflip

Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
The fingerflip's shove taken to 540 degrees: the hand throws one heelflip-direction rotation and, in the same motion, sweeps the board round beneath a rider who stays square. The flip is the easy half - the hand meters that precisely - and the hard half is height, because the board needs long enough in the air to get 3 half-turns of yaw round without the flip finishing first. Advanced freestyle territory, where the throw becomes a spiral rather than a snap.
Step by step
- Roll at an easy pace and lift the nose into a wheelie with the hand.
- Jump as tall as you can - the yaw needs the hang time, not the flip.
- Throw the flip and sweep the arm round in one spiral motion, releasing at the top.
- Hover the feet wide of the board and stay square; the rider does not turn.
- Count the nose past - 3 half-turns - and read the grip on the last one.
- Stomp both bolts the instant the rotations resolve together.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | Hangs clear through the whole spiral, then drives down on the front bolts. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Lands in unison to pin both rotations at once. |
| Shoulders | Square and quiet: all of the rotation belongs to the board. |
| Arms | The throwing arm circles for the yaw while the wrist supplies the flip; the other steadies the catch. |
| Gaze | Locked on the deck, counting the nose round. |
