Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
A backside 180 with the board wrapping a full turn around the front foot inside it. The impossible runs on the front foot rather than the back, which is what separates it from an ollie impossible with a 180 bolted on: the board comes round the leading foot while the rider is already turning, so the wrap has to survive a body that is rotating underneath it.
Step by step
- Roll in and set the front foot so the board can wrap around it rather than off it.
- Pop and start the backside 180 with the shoulders.
- Let the board wrap a full turn end-over-end around the front foot as you turn.
- Spot the board coming level as the 180 completes.
- Land on the bolts riding fakie.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | The axle the board wraps around - it stays put while the deck goes round it. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Pops and then keeps out of the wrap's way. |
| Shoulders | Lead the 180 and keep leading it; stalling here stalls the wrap. |
| Arms | Wrap backside with the shoulders, then open to spot the deck. |
| Gaze | Over the leading shoulder through the turn, then down to the board. |
