Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
A willy grind approached with the obstacle at the toes: the front truck grinds, the tail is thrown across so the back truck hangs over the far side, and the heel-side deck rail shelves on the edge behind the front hanger. Swinging the tail blind over a toe-side rail while committing weight to the nose makes this the harder willy; the deck shelf stabilizes roll, but pitch is all front-foot, and the semi-blind exit requires pulling the tail home before the unweight.
Step by step
- Roll at the obstacle on your toe side with moderate speed.
- Ollie nose-first and swing the tail across the rail, back truck hanging over the far side.
- Land the front hanger grinding with the heel-side deck rail seated on the edge.
- Commit chest and hips over the front axle, tail resting at its down-and-over angle.
- Ride the shelf, keeping the skew steady with core tension.
- Draw the tail back over the near side while nollieing off the nose, land square, roll away.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | All primary weight on the nose over the grinding truck; drives the exit nollie. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Guides the tail over the rail and rests the deck shelf without weight. |
| Shoulders | Closed slightly into the ledge, chest above the front truck. |
| Arms | Leading arm across the obstacle for counterbalance, trailing arm trims the hanging tail. |
| Gaze | The corner at lock-in, then over the nose to the landing. |
