Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.

How it works

A front-truck grind with the obstacle in front of the toes and the tail floating level behind. Compared to the backside version the rider can see the ledge the whole way in, but the toe-side lock means their weight naturally hangs off the outside; the fix is driving the chest forward and over the ledge at lock-in so the mass column runs straight down through the front axle. The exit is a nollie-style pop off the front truck or a swift wheelie off the end.

Step by step

  1. Roll at the ledge on your toe side at a shallow angle with good speed.
  2. Ollie in and lean forward over the nose, letting the tail rise behind you.
  3. Set the front hanger on the corner with chest driven over the ledge, hips above the front axle.
  4. Keep the back truck up with a light back foot, board angled a hair into the ledge so the hanger tracks.
  5. Ride the nose-manual balance to the end of the grind.
  6. Pop off the nose nollie-style or wheelie off the end, lifting the front truck clear and landing on all four wheels.

Body mechanics

Front footFull on the nose, weight through the ball of the foot directly over the grinding hanger.
Back footFeather-light on the tail, keeping the rear truck from touching down.
ShouldersSquare to the ledge with chest pushed forward and slightly over it.
ArmsFront arm reaches down the ledge line; back arm floats high behind to hold the tail-up pitch.
GazeThe corner where the truck will lock, then the runway just past the nose.
