roll yaw pitch body

Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.

How it works

A direction-reversing pressure flip and a direct ancestor of Mullen's kickflip-underflip combinations: one foot in the middle of the deck kicks down to pressure the board through a half flip in the kickflip direction, then the same foot immediately kicks back up under the risen rail, reversing the rotation so the board rolls home the way it came and catches wheels-down. The board never leaves the feet's reach; the whole trick is one down-up pumping stroke of a single leg. The full '1½ kickback' keeps the reversed roll going past the start point for a further turn, which is the clean version - the half-out, half-back recorded here is the common one.

Step by step

  1. Stand with one foot across the middle of the deck and the other over the truck bolts.
  2. Jump, and as you rise kick the middle foot down on the rail to pressure the board into a half kickflip.
  3. The instant the far rail rises, flick the same foot upward against the board's underside.
  4. Let the reversed rotation carry the deck back the other way - a full one-and-a-half in the clean version.
  5. Track the grip through the direction change.
  6. Catch wheels-down with both feet on the bolts and compress.

Body mechanics

Front footAnchors over its bolts during the kick sequence, then shares the catch.
Back footThe working foot mid-deck: kicks down for the pressure half-flip, then instantly up to reverse the spin.
ShouldersStay centered over the board; the trick's forces are all vertical couples under the feet.
ArmsRise with the jump and hang ready - the direction change happens too fast for arm corrections.
GazeFixed on the mid-deck rail to time the down-kick and the reversal flick.
