Half Kickflip to Casper

Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
The standard dynamic entry into the casper: the rider flicks a kickflip but deliberately kills it at half rotation, catching the grip-down board with the back foot on the inverted tail and the front foot hooking under the nose in the same instant. The flick must be soft - a full-strength kickflip flick blows past the half-rotation catch window. Timing the double catch (stomp and hook together) is the entire trick.
Step by step
- Set up as for a gentle kickflip, front foot angled behind the front bolts, back foot on the tail.
- Pop lightly and give a soft, short flick off the heel-side of the nose.
- Watch the grip rotate away; as the board reaches grip-down, drive the back foot onto the underside of the tail.
- Simultaneously slide the front foot under the rising nose to hook it.
- Let the tail tip settle to the ground under your back foot and absorb into the casper stall.
- Hold, then flick the nose over to flip out back onto the wheels.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | Delivers a damped kickflip flick, then reverses role instantly to hook beneath the half-flipped nose. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Pops a small tail snap, then stomps the inverted tail and takes the full body weight of the stall. |
| Shoulders | Stay square over the board; the trick is caught, not rotated. |
| Arms | Quiet on the flick, spreading as the stall is caught to settle the balance. |
| Gaze | On the grip tape from flick to catch - the half-rotation window is identified visually. |
