roll yaw pitch body

Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.

How it works

A one-footed lien to tail: the rider airs frontside, grabs lien (front hand, heel rail near the nose), kicks the front foot off toward the flat of the ramp, then slams the tail down on the coping and drops back in. The trick lives at the junction of air and lip trick - the aerial part is a lien air with a dramatic leg dangle, and the finish converts all that amplitude into a tail-smack on the coping that doubles as the re-entry mechanism.

Step by step

  1. Carve into a frontside air off the coping with medium-high amplitude.
  2. Grab lien with the front hand as you rise, board tipping up beneath you.
  3. Kick the front foot off and point it down toward the flat, hanging off the grab.
  4. Descend aiming the tail directly at the coping and re-plant the front foot as you drop.
  5. Bang the tail on the coping, lean down the transition, and ride in off the tail like a drop-in.

Body mechanics

Front footLeaves the board mid-air pointing at the flat, then returns to the bolts just before the tail strikes.
Back footStays on the tail throughout, aiming it at the coping for the smack.
ShouldersLean out over the ramp with the lien grab, then rotate down the wall to drive the re-entry.
ArmsFront hand hangs the body from the heel rail; rear arm swings for the drop-in balance.
GazeAt the coping from the peak down - the tail must hit a precise target.
