Seatbelt

Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
The front hand reaches diagonally across the body - the path of pulling a seatbelt - to grab the tail. It is the crail's mirror image: instead of back hand to nose, front hand to tail, which folds the torso backward over the rear leg and demands serious flexibility and airtime. The cross-body reach makes the board sit almost sideways under the rider at full tweak.
Step by step
- Take off with plenty of amplitude; the reach across the body needs the whole arc.
- Compress and rotate your torso rear-ward while the front hand travels across to the tail.
- Grip the tail with the front hand, torso folded diagonally over the back foot.
- Tweak through the peak, nose kicked away from the grab.
- Unwind the torso, release, level out, and absorb the re-entry.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | Presses the nose down and away as the hand abandons its side of the board. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | On the tail under the incoming grab, the fold's anchor. |
| Shoulders | Rotate tail-ward so the leading shoulder points at the back foot - the seatbelt pull. |
| Arms | Front hand crosses the body to the tail; rear arm extends out to keep the fold from over-rotating. |
| Gaze | Briefly at the tail to sight the grab, then immediately back down the wall. |
