Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
One and a half flat revolutions - 540 degrees of backside yaw around the board's vertical axis - from a single scoop, landing with nose and tail swapped. The scoop must maximize both angular impulse and hang time: the tail is popped harder and the wrap extended further behind the rider than a 360 shove, and the catch happens on a board still spinning fast, timed by watching the nose pass the third half-turn.
Step by step
- Set the back foot deep in the tail pocket, toes toward the toe edge, crouching low.
- Pop tall and drag the scoop through the longest arc your ankle and hip allow.
- Jump high and keep both feet level and clear - the board needs time as much as spin.
- Track the nose visually through one-and-a-half rotations.
- Catch the bolts just before the 540 completes and let the last degrees finish under your shoes.
- Land ends-swapped and roll away.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | Exits straight up and stays poised to catch a fast-spinning deck without deflecting it. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Generates all 540 degrees with a maximal pop-scoop; contact time with the tail is everything. |
| Shoulders | Square and quiet; the body is a stable platform over a violent spin. |
| Arms | Raised slightly for hang time and catch balance. |
| Gaze | Locked on the rotating nose, counting half-turns. |
