Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
The rider jumps straight up off a rolling board without popping it, letting the board continue rolling flat underneath - classically under an obstacle the rider clears over the top. The physics constraint is a purely vertical jump: any horizontal or rotational impulse through the feet accelerates or turns the board out from under the rider, so the legs must unload with zero shear force.
Step by step
- Roll at moderate speed with both feet over the bolts, board dead straight.
- Crouch evenly with weight centered between both trucks.
- Jump straight up, extending through both legs simultaneously with no forward or sideways push.
- Tuck the knees to clear the obstacle while the board rolls on beneath.
- Spot the board, land with both feet back over the bolts, and absorb with bent knees.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | Flat over the front bolts; unloads vertically without pushing the board forward. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Flat over the back bolts; identical pure-vertical unload. |
| Shoulders | Square and level; any twist steers the board away mid-flight. |
| Arms | Swing upward for jump height, as in a standing vertical leap. |
| Gaze | At the obstacle on approach, then straight down to re-spot the rolling board. |
