Inward Flip

Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
The inward heelflip's rotation produced from underneath: the board turns the same way it would for an inward heel, but the front foot goes beneath the deck and lifts rather than kicking down on top of it. It is easiest from nollie and is usually described as the exact opposite of the trick it copies, since everything about how it is made is inverted while the result looks the same.
Step by step
- Roll in and let the front foot slide under the nose so the deck rests on the instep.
- Pop and scoop backside off the tail.
- Lift and kick up off the top of the front foot to roll the board over.
- Get the foot clear before the roll comes back round.
- Catch over the bolts and ride away.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | Goes under the deck and lifts - the whole roll comes off the top of the boot. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Pops and scoops for the shove, then clears out. |
| Shoulders | Square; the shove is all foot. |
| Arms | Low and balancing over a board being lifted rather than flicked. |
| Gaze | On the underside of the nose while the foot is beneath it. |
