Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
The hardflip's mirror: a heelflip combined with a backside 180 shove, the roll and yaw again opposing so the board climbs steeply between the legs. The back foot pops and scoops the tail heel-ward (backside yaw) while the front heel snaps off the toe-side nose pocket (toe-ward roll). The board flips 'inward' toward the rider's toe side while its ends swap behind the heels, and is caught ends-swapped as it levels.
Step by step
- Back foot in backside scoop position on the tail; front foot heelflip position with toes over the toe edge.
- Crouch with weight centered, shoulders square.
- Pop and scoop the tail heel-ward while the heel snaps down off the toe-side nose pocket.
- Let the knees part as the board rotates steeply between the legs, rolling toe-ward and yawing backside.
- Catch the leveling grip ends-swapped and land over the bolts.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | Quick downward heel snap off the toe-side pocket, then retracts forward-out of the board's climbing path. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Committed backside scoop; it must clear heel-ward instantly so the yawing tail misses the ankle. |
| Shoulders | Square with a slight forward hinge; the board's corridor is under the hips. |
| Arms | Compact, rising with the pop. |
| Gaze | Down at the board's path between the feet through flick and catch. |
