Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
A pop shove-it with the roll added late from underneath by the back foot. The shove happens first and cleanly, and only once the board is round does the back foot go under it and lift it over - so unlike an inward flip, where both arrive together, here the two beats are plainly separate. Professionals rarely bother with it; most of the footage that exists is filmed by people who are not paid to skate.
Step by step
- Pop a clean backside shove-it and let it go all the way round.
- Keep both feet high while the board turns underneath you.
- Slide the back foot under the deck once the shove is finished.
- Kick up off the top of that foot to roll the board over late.
- Catch it level and ride out.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | Waits high over the nose and comes down only for the catch. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Pops the shove, then goes under the board and lifts it - two separate jobs in sequence. |
| Shoulders | Square throughout; both beats are foot work. |
| Arms | Held steady through a longer hang than a shove-it alone needs. |
| Gaze | On the board finishing the shove, which is the cue to go underneath it. |
