Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
The ollie-era shove-it: the back foot pops the tail down and simultaneously scoops it toward the rider's heel side, combining lift with a 180-degree backside yaw around the board's vertical axis. The board rises and rotates beneath a square, non-rotating body; the front foot hovers to cap the height and catches the grip as nose and tail finish swapping. Unqualified, 'pop shove-it' always means backside.
Step by step
- Set the back foot on the tail pocket with toes slightly hanging toe-side for scoop leverage.
- Place the front foot flat behind the front bolts, weight centered.
- Pop the tail down while sweeping it backside toward your heels in one motion.
- Jump evenly and let the board rotate 180 under your square shoulders.
- Catch the grip with the front foot as the nose swings under your back foot.
- Land over the bolts and roll away.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | Rises and hovers over the board's axis of yaw, then catches the deck to stop rotation. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Delivers the pop-and-scoop: downward snap blended into a heel-side sweep. |
| Shoulders | Square throughout; rotating them turns the trick into a 180 by accident. |
| Arms | Loose at the sides, lifting slightly with the hop. |
| Gaze | On the board through the spin, then ahead after the catch. |
