Shown for a regular-footed rider riding nollie. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
A nollie backside flip with the kickflip added late. The 180 goes first, board and rider together off the nose, and only once that is under way does the roll arrive - so the flip happens beneath a rider who is already most of the way round. Named after the Osiris video The Storm, where it was first captured.
Step by step
- Roll with the front foot back at the nose for a nollie pop.
- Pop and turn backside 180, board and body together.
- Hold the board flat through the first part of the turn.
- Flick the kickflip late, once the 180 is nearly done.
- Catch the roll as it finishes and land riding away.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | Pops the nose, then comes back late to put the flip in. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Guides the 180 and stays clear of the late flick. |
| Shoulders | Turn backside first and commit - the flip waits for them. |
| Arms | Wrap backside early to get the turn out of the way. |
| Gaze | Round through the 180, then down for the late roll. |
