roll yaw pitch body

Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.

How it works

A backside 180 with a kickflip: board and body share a 180-degree backside rotation around the vertical axis while the board rolls once heel-ward around its long axis. The kickflip flick fires as the shoulders unwind backside, and since the rotation turns the rider blind, the catch is made mostly by feel with the board arriving under a body that has already half-turned. The style benchmark is catching early at 90 and pivoting in the last degrees on landing.

Step by step

  1. Kickflip setup with the shoulders wound slightly frontside.
  2. Pop and unwind backside while flicking the heel-side nose corner.
  3. Let board and body rotate together, the flip completing during the first 90 of turn.
  4. Catch the grip early, board and body still rotating as a unit.
  5. Land fakie over the bolts, pivoting out the final degrees on the rear truck.

Body mechanics

Front footFlicks, then immediately reclaims the nose as the body turns - the early catch defines the trick.
Back footPops and guides the tail toe-ward through the backside turn; first to re-plant on the catch.
ShouldersFrontside pre-wind, smooth backside release; over-rotation flat-spins the catch away.
ArmsLead arm sweeps across the chest; both settle for the blind fakie landing.
GazeForward through the flick, then over the trailing shoulder to spot the landing late.
