Sweeper

Shown for a regular-footed rider riding fakie. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
A footplanted lip trick with old-school swagger: from a tail stall the rider plants the front foot on the coping, grabs the nose, and sweeps the board out over the ramp in an arc - like sweeping the lip with the deck - before slapping it back under the feet and dropping in. The physics is a one-legged squat on the coping while the arm swings the board's mass; the re-entry works because the plant leg pushes the body back over the board at the exact moment the deck is swept beneath it.
Step by step
- Ride up fakie and set a solid tail stall on the coping.
- Grab the nose with your front hand and step your front foot off onto the coping.
- Lift the board by the nose, tail leaving the coping, and sweep it out over the transition in a smooth arc.
- Swing the deck back beneath you and set the tail back on the coping (or directly under your feet).
- Step your front foot back on the bolts, release the grab, lean in, and drop back into the ramp.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | Plants on the coping and carries the entire body in a single-leg squat during the sweep. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Stays on the tail as the board is swept, riding the deck through the arc. |
| Shoulders | Open toward the ramp during the sweep, then square up as the board returns beneath you. |
| Arms | Front hand holds the nose and does the sweeping; back arm counterswings for balance. |
| Gaze | At the board through the sweep, then down the transition as you step back on and commit. |
