Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
The bigspin family taken as far as it goes on flatground: the board spins 720 backside with a single kickflip through it while the rider turns 180. A bigflip is 360 of board, a bigger flip 540; this is two whole turns, and the flip still has to be caught the right way up at the end of them.
Step by step
- Roll in fast - two turns of board need real hang time.
- Scoop as hard as the tail will take, starting the body's 180 with it.
- Flick a single kickflip into the beginning of the spin.
- Let the board go round twice while the shoulders hold at 180.
- Spot the grip late and stamp it down.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | One flick early, then out of the way for two rotations. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Everything comes from this scoop; the 720 is won or lost at the pop. |
| Shoulders | Turn 180 and stop dead while the board keeps going. |
| Arms | Pulled in tight to keep the body's turn short against the board's long one. |
| Gaze | Down and waiting - the board is out of sight for most of the trick. |
