Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
The heelflip counterpart of the nightmare flip: a varial heelflip whose board rolls twice toe-ward while yawing 180 frontside. The back foot's frontside pop-scoop launches the yaw as the front heel snaps a double-speed flick off the toe-side nose pocket; because the frontside yaw feeds the nose into the heel's path, the flick can be caught by the spinning board if it isn't cleared far forward immediately after release.
Step by step
- Varial-heelflip setup: back heel off the tail's heel edge, front toes over the toe edge.
- Pop and push the tail toe-ward for the frontside 180 shove.
- Snap the heel off the toe-side nose corner at double-flip speed and clear the leg forward.
- Tuck while the board rolls twice inside its half-yaw.
- Spot grip-up, catch on the swapped ends, and land.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | Maximal heel snap followed by an exaggerated forward clear - the incoming nose sweeps its release point. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Frontside scoop, then high hover; first contact at the catch. |
| Shoulders | Square with the usual frontside counter-hold. |
| Arms | Front arm punches forward with the heel kick; both high for float. |
| Gaze | On the double roll, committing the catch only at the second grip pass. |
