Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
A heelflip paired with a frontside 180 shove: the board rolls once toe-ward around its long axis while yawing 180 frontside, landing with ends swapped. The back foot pops and pushes the tail toe-side (frontside shove) as the front heel snaps off the toe-side nose pocket; the two impulses complement each other because the frontside yaw carries the nose into the path of the heel flick, making the combined motion flow more naturally than it sounds.
Step by step
- Back foot on the tail with heel hanging off the heel edge (frontside scoop position); front foot in heelflip position.
- Crouch, shoulders square and slightly closed.
- Pop and push the tail toe-ward for the frontside 180 shove.
- Snap the heel off the toe-side nose pocket as the nose swings toward it.
- Let the board flip and yaw beneath you, catching as the grip returns upright.
- Land ends-swapped over the bolts.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | Heel snap off the toe-side pocket, timed as the yawing nose arrives under the foot. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Frontside pop-scoop: down and toe-ward, then lifts clear. |
| Shoulders | Square with a counter-hold against the frontside yaw. |
| Arms | Front arm extends forward-out with the heel kick. |
| Gaze | On the nose pocket at flick, then the grip through the catch. |
