Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
A varial kickflip with a double flip: the board rolls twice around its long axis while yawing 180 backside from the shove scoop. The back foot's pop-scoop sets the yaw exactly as in a varial kickflip, but the front foot's flick is snapped at double-flip speed off the retreating heel-side nose pocket; the double roll must complete within the same 180 of yaw, so the flick is nearly all ankle velocity with minimal follow-through.
Step by step
- Varial-kickflip setup: back foot in scoop position, front foot in kickflip position slightly further back.
- Pop and scoop the tail heel-ward for the 180 backside shove.
- Snap a maximal-speed flick off the heel-side nose corner as it rotates away.
- Hold the tuck while the board completes two rolls and half a yaw.
- Catch grip-up on the swapped ends and land over the bolts.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | Whip-crack flick with a stiff ankle, releasing early to double the roll rate within the shove's timeline. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Standard varial scoop, then patience - the catch is later than instinct says. |
| Shoulders | Square, biased slightly over the back foot. |
| Arms | Raised for hang time; the double flip needs the pop's full height. |
| Gaze | Counting grip passes against the yaw to call the catch. |
