surface obstacle

Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.

How it works

The tail-over slide with the obstacle at the toes: the rider ollies and whips the tail across the toe-side rail, landing mid-deck with their chest now facing back up the rail - a blind, wound-up slide position that pairs the lipslide's demanding entry with the front board's semi-blind balance. The hips carry a quarter-turn of stored backside rotation through the slide, released at the end to turn out and roll away forward. A staple on handrails and one of the classic slides on ramp coping, where the tail is thrown over from below.

Step by step

  1. Approach with the rail in front of your toes, square line, good speed.
  2. Ollie and whip the tail over the bar with a quarter backside turn of the hips.
  3. Drop the deck's center onto the rail, chest facing up-rail, head turned hard to the exit.
  4. Stack weight straight down through the contact; keep the wound-up hips quiet.
  5. Slide reading the rail's end over your leading shoulder.
  6. Release the stored rotation to turn 90 out at the end, landing forward and rolling away.

ArmsTrailing arm high over the rail's start, leading arm pointing at the exit.
GazeOver the front shoulder at the end of the rail from lock-in to landing.
