roll yaw pitch body

Shown for a regular-footed rider riding fakie. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.

How it works

A half-cab with a kickflip: from fakie, board and body rotate 180 backside together around the vertical axis while the board rolls once in the kickflip direction. The fakie roll feeds the rotation so the shoulders can stay nearly relaxed; the kickflip flick fires just after the unwind begins and the board is caught mid-turn, landing forward in the rider's natural stance. A cornerstone of technical street lines.

Step by step

  1. Roll fakie in kickflip stance with shoulders wound gently frontside.
  2. Pop and begin the backside half-cab rotation.
  3. Flick the heel-side nose corner as the turn starts, letting the flip complete inside the first 90.
  4. Catch the grip with both feet while board and body finish the 180 together.
  5. Land over the bolts rolling forward in normal stance.
