Fakie Flip
also known as: Fakie Kickflip

Shown for a regular-footed rider riding fakie. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
A kickflip performed rolling fakie: identical tail pop and heel-side nose-pocket flick, one full roll around the long axis, but with the board traveling tail-first. Rolling backward puts the flicking foot on the trailing end of travel, which keeps the board naturally under the body through the flip - the reason fakie flips are often learned within days of regular kickflips and read as one of the most comfortable flip variants.
Step by step
- Roll fakie in standard kickflip stance.
- Crouch and pop the tail exactly as in a regular kickflip.
- Flick the heel-side nose corner with the usual diagonal slide.
- Let the board flip once while drifting with your backward roll.
- Catch grip-up, land over the bolts, and keep rolling fakie.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | Standard kickflip flick; the fakie drift gives it a fraction more forgiveness. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Standard pop and catch. |
| Shoulders | Square to the deck, not the direction of travel. |
| Arms | Relaxed; minimal correction needed. |
| Gaze | Down at the flip, with an occasional check over the leading shoulder for the run-out. |
