Shown for a regular-footed rider riding nollie. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
A nollie-popped 360-degree backside rotation of board and body around the vertical axis while rolling forward. Popping from the nose while spinning against forward travel demands that the frontside wind-up be stored over the front leg; the front foot pops and immediately becomes the pivot that drags the board through the rotation. Lands rolling forward in the original stance.
Step by step
- Roll at moderate speed in nollie position, shoulders wound hard frontside over the front leg.
- Snap the nose down and jump while releasing the shoulders backside.
- Drag the back foot toward the tail to level, keeping both feet glued to the grip.
- Tuck and let the head lead the full rotation, blind through the middle 180.
- Spot the landing, extend, and touch down over the bolts still rolling forward.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | Pops from the nose pocket then pins the nose, acting as the rotational anchor. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Drags rearward to level, then holds the tail through the spin. |
| Shoulders | Deep frontside wind-up released backside at the nose snap; timing pop and release together is the crux. |
| Arms | Whip and tuck to sustain spin; open on landing. |
| Gaze | Leads backside immediately, re-acquiring the landing over the shoulder at three-quarters. |
