Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
A full 360-degree backside rotation of rider and board together around the vertical axis, popped from a forward-rolling ollie. The first 180 turns the rider blind to the direction of travel, so commitment must be total at the pop; a frontside shoulder wind-up stores the angular momentum, and the feet clamp the board so its yaw never decouples from the body's.
Step by step
- Crouch with shoulders wound hard frontside, back foot centered-to-heel-side on the tail.
- Pop high and unwind backside, throwing the lead arm across the chest.
- Compact the body - knees up, arms in - to carry rotation speed.
- Whip the head around to re-spot the landing during the second 180.
- Extend and land over the bolts rolling forward, pivoting out any shortfall.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | Levels then presses the nose around; toward the end it steers the final degrees. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Pops and then pushes the tail toward the toe side, keeping the board rotating under the hips. |
| Shoulders | Full frontside pre-wind and explosive backside release; the head leads, shoulders follow, hips last. |
| Arms | Cross the body at release, tuck mid-spin, open to brake for landing. |
| Gaze | Forward at pop, over the trailing shoulder mid-spin, locked on landing for the final quarter. |
