Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
A boneless with a 180-degree frontside rotation of board and body around the vertical axis, steered by the grabbing hand. The planted leg supplies vertical impulse while the back hand, still holding the toe-side rail, physically rotates the board with the turning torso - making the rotation more controlled than an ollie 180 since the board is hand-guided for the first half. Lands fakie.
Step by step
- Grab the toe-side rail with the back hand and plant the front foot heel-side.
- Spring off the planted leg while opening the chest frontside.
- Let the hand and turning shoulders carry the board through the 180 with the back foot aboard.
- Replace the front foot on the bolts as the rotation completes.
- Release the grab and land rolling fakie.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | Plants, springs, and returns to the deck mid-rotation. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Rides the deck, pressing into the grip so the board stays coupled to the turn. |
| Shoulders | Lead the frontside rotation from the moment of the spring. |
| Arms | Grabbing arm steers the board around; free arm sweeps to drive the turn. |
| Gaze | Over the front shoulder to the fakie landing. |
