Shown for a regular-footed rider riding fakie. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
A bigspin performed rolling fakie: the board wraps 360 backside from the tail scoop while the body half-cabs 180 backside above it, ending in the rider's normal stance rolling forward. The fakie roll makes the body's 180 nearly effortless - the same momentum that eases the half-cab - which is why this is usually the first bigspin variant learned despite the full board wrap.
Step by step
- Roll fakie in 360-shove position with shoulders wound gently frontside.
- Pop and scoop the tail through a full backside wrap.
- Release the shoulders backside, half-cabbing the body 180 with the direction of roll.
- Track the grip as board and body rotations complete together.
- Catch over the bolts and roll away forward in normal stance.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | Follows the turning body and catches the bolts as the wrap completes. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Supplies the whole 360 of board yaw with a rounded scoop, then turns with the hips. |
| Shoulders | Easy backside release; fakie momentum does half the work. |
| Arms | Compact, guiding rather than driving the rotation. |
| Gaze | Rotates immediately to the forward landing, keeping the deck in the lower field of view. |
