Fakie Ollie

Shown for a regular-footed rider riding fakie. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
An ollie performed while rolling backward in the rider's natural stance. The mechanics are identical to a regular ollie - tail snap pitches the board nose-up around the lateral axis, front foot drags to level - but the board travels tail-first, so the pop launches off the trailing end of the direction of motion, which actually makes the board easier to keep under the body.
Step by step
- Roll fakie with the back foot on the tail and front foot behind the middle of the deck, standard ollie position.
- Crouch with shoulders square and weight centered.
- Pop the tail down hard and jump, exactly as in a regular ollie.
- Slide the front foot toward the nose to drag the board up and level it.
- Catch the board level and land over the bolts, continuing to roll fakie.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | Behind the deck midpoint; slides up the grip to level the board exactly as in an ollie. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Ball of the foot on the tail; snaps down and lifts. |
| Shoulders | Square to the deck; do not open toward the direction of travel. |
| Arms | Neutral lift for balance; slight counterweight against backward roll. |
| Gaze | Over the leading (tail) end, checking the ground behind while keeping the head centered. |
