Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
A full 360-degree frontside yaw of the board with no flip: the back foot pops and drags the tail through a long toe-side arc, whipping the nose behind the rider's heels and all the way around. The frontside scoop offers less natural ankle leverage than backside, so the heel hangs off the tail and the whole stroke is driven from the hip. The body stays square above the flat, rotor-like spin; this is the shove component of the laser flip.
Step by step
- Back foot on the tail, heel hanging off the heel-side edge, front foot loose behind the front bolts.
- Crouch and load the back leg from the hip.
- Pop and sweep the tail hard toe-ward and around, feeding in a full revolution of frontside yaw.
- Jump evenly, feet high, shoulders pinned square.
- Spot the grip as the nose comes around and catch with both feet over the bolts.
- Land and roll away.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | Clears the deck early and stays flat above it; any glancing contact kills the spin. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Heel-biased scoop driven from the hip, wrapping the tail toe-ward through the longest possible contact arc. |
| Shoulders | Square with a deliberate counter-hold against the frontside torque. |
| Arms | Front arm extends down the line to anchor the body's orientation. |
| Gaze | On the spinning deck until the catch, then to the run-out. |
