roll yaw pitch body

Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.

How it works

A popped 180-degree frontside yaw of the board around its vertical axis: the back foot snaps the tail down while pushing it toward the rider's toe side, sending the nose sweeping behind the heels. The scoop direction works against the ankle's natural sweep, so the back foot sets up with the heel hanging off the tail's heel-side edge for leverage. Body stays square; lands with ends swapped.

Step by step

  1. Place the back foot on the tail with the heel hanging slightly off the heel-side edge.
  2. Front foot flat behind the front bolts, shoulders square.
  3. Pop the tail down while pushing it toe-side, letting the nose whip around behind you.
  4. Hop evenly and hover the front foot above the deck's pivot point.
  5. Catch the grip as the rotation completes and land over the bolts.

Body mechanics

Front footHovers high enough to clear the nose sweeping beneath it, then catches.
Back footHeel-biased on the tail; snaps down and pushes toe-ward in one stroke.
ShouldersSquare and slightly closed to resist following the frontside spin.
ArmsBalance out to the sides; the front arm guards against over-rotation of the body.
GazeDown at the board's pivot, then forward on landing.
