Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
The frontside mirror of the bigspin: a 360-degree frontside yaw of the board paired with a 180-degree frontside body rotation, the board again netting 180 relative to the rider. The heel-biased frontside scoop and the opening chest turn happen simultaneously - the rider effectively performs a frontside 180 over a frontside 360 shove. Lands fakie with the landing in full view, since the frontside turn faces the rider down the run-out.
Step by step
- Back foot heel hanging off the tail's heel edge, shoulders wound slightly backside.
- Pop and sweep the tail toe-ward through a full frontside wrap while the chest opens frontside.
- Carry the body through 180, keeping hips stacked above the spinning deck.
- Watch the nose complete its revolution as your turn finishes.
- Catch over the bolts and land rolling fakie.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | Rises with the turning body, staying above the deck's pivot; catches as spins align. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Drives the full frontside wrap from the hip, then rotates with the body. |
| Shoulders | Open frontside in sync with the scoop; over-turning drags the board past 360. |
| Arms | Front arm leads the opening turn; both settle wide for the fakie landing. |
| Gaze | Ahead over the leading shoulder - the landing is visible almost immediately. |
