Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
A front-foot impossible inside a bigger spin: the board wraps a full turn end-over-end around the front foot while going round 540 degrees under a rider who turns 180. Three rotations on two axes with the board never leaving the foot it is wrapping, which is why almost nobody does it.
Step by step
- Roll in with the front foot placed to wrap rather than to flick.
- Scoop the tail hard enough for a 540 while starting the body's 180.
- Let the board wrap end-over-end around the front foot as it goes round.
- Hold the 180 and let the board out-rotate you by the remaining 360.
- Spot the deck level and land riding fakie.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | The pivot the board wraps around, held still through a 540 of yaw. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Scoops for the whole 540 - the yaw is all from here. |
| Shoulders | Turn 180 and stop, while the board carries on - the mismatch is the bigger spin. |
| Arms | Tight to the body to keep the 180 from over-running into a 360. |
| Gaze | Down at the wrap; the yaw looks after itself once the scoop is right. |
