Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
An ollie with a full 360-degree frontside rotation of board and body around the vertical axis while rolling forward. The chest opens to the direction of travel and keeps turning through a blind rear 180 before the landing rotates back into view. All angular momentum must be stored in a backside shoulder wind-up and released at the instant of pop; many skaters finish the last few degrees with a rear-wheel pivot on landing.
Step by step
- Crouch deep with shoulders wound hard backside and the back foot toward the toe edge of the tail.
- Pop a tall ollie while releasing the wind-up frontside with arms and chest.
- Draw the knees up and keep the front foot pressed on the nose so the board spins with you.
- Keep the head rotating ahead of the body through the blind phase.
- Spot the landing, extend, and set down over the bolts rolling forward.
- Pivot out any remaining degrees on the back truck.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | After leveling, pins the nose so board yaw stays locked to body yaw for the full rotation. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Pops from the toe-side tail pocket and sweeps the tail behind the heels, then rides the rotation. |
| Shoulders | Deep backside pre-wind; the frontside release is the sole engine - no mid-air correction is possible. |
| Arms | Whip open at release then pull tight to the chest to increase spin rate. |
| Gaze | Snaps around frontside, leading the body by a quarter turn to find the landing early. |
