Shown for a regular-footed rider. Teal ring + arrow = the rider's facing direction; teal band = the tail; a dot is where a hand holds the board - bright yellow for the front hand, amber for the back one, which is the whole difference between a mute and an indy. Board and rider rotate independently - each follows its own component. Drag to orbit.
How it works
The kickflip's mirror: one full rotation around the board's long axis with the grip tape rolling toward the rider's toes first. The front foot slides diagonally toward the toe-side corner of the nose and flicks off it with the heel, so the impulse is delivered by the heel edge of the shoe rather than the toe. The kick extends forward-and-out toe-side, and the board flips under a square body before being caught wheels-down.
Step by step
- Back foot on the tail pocket; front foot behind the front bolts with toes hanging slightly over the toe edge.
- Crouch and pop an ollie.
- Slide the front foot diagonally toward the toe-side nose corner and snap the heel off that pocket, kicking forward-out.
- Lift the knees and let the board complete one toe-ward roll.
- Catch the grip with the back foot, set both feet on the bolts, and land.
Body mechanics
| Front foot | Toes overhang the toe edge pre-pop; slides up and flicks off the toe-side nose pocket with the heel, leg extending diagonally forward. |
|---|---|
| Back foot | Ollie pop, then rises and re-catches the returning grip. |
| Shoulders | Square, with a hint of backward lean to give the toe-side kick room. |
| Arms | Front arm swings forward with the kick for counterbalance. |
| Gaze | On the nose through the flick, watching the grip roll toe-ward and back. |
